The Farm

Deuteronomy 8:18 “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors…” (NIV)

For you to live a limitless life, you have to be in a place where your faith, finances, family, fitness, farm, friendships, and fun must be in sync. Our text remains 2 Kings 4:1-7 (please read).

Again, we see from the story how limitless this woman was financially, dependent on the limits of her family, faith, friendships, fitness, and farm. They are all connected. Over the next few days, we will turn our attention to and unpack Farm. God expects that our farm should produce. And the produce of our farms will liberate our finances, the produce of our farms will be the bedrock of our finances.

John Wesley, (the father of the Methodist church) was recorded to have said, “I make all that I can. I save all that I can. I give all that I can. And I enjoy it all”. This was his philosophy about making money. Make your farm produce all that it is capable of. Make the best out of your financial possibilities. There is no glory and no honour in not fulfilling your financial future. You cannot help people financially if you do not have financially. So, God wants you to make the best of your financial future. Remember, finance is the money you have (your wealth), and the management thereof. Your farm, on the other hand, is the main source of your money.

So, you should have a farm, it is from the farm that you get a consistent income. Therefore, you must work the farm. However, it is rarely the farm that will make you wealthy. It is what you do with the income from the farm that will make you wealthy. The farm can take you out of poverty. But the farm mostly cannot make you wealthy. So, your focus should not just be wanting to get out of poverty. You should want to be wealthy; wealthy for yourself, wealthy for the Kingdom of God, wealthy for the people around you, and wealthy for your nation.

Except it fulfils certain conditions which is not the case with most people, the farm by itself is not the vehicle for producing wealth. The farm is the vehicle for getting a consistent income. The farm is the vehicle for building character, learning obedience, and so many things. However, those things are necessary for retaining the wealth that you generate outside of the farm. So, you see that the farm and finances are both connected.

Prayer:  Father, I acknowledge You as the Source of my wisdom and ability to generate wealth from the proceeds of my farm thereby confirming Your Covenant, in Jesus Name. Amen!
