Friendship

Matthew 11:²⁹ “Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.” (MSG)

The Holy Spirit has come to teach you how to know God, but you have to spend time with Him. Imagine this, exams are drawing close and student B spends all her time reading romantic novels. And then when it is time for the exam, she is struggling to solve calculus or chemistry because what is inside her brain is boy meets girl.  Then she sees “15x + 3y”. And she says, why are we always looking for this x? Why is x always running away? Junk consumption! You need to spend your time with The Holy Spirit. And I am not saying that you must necessarily lock yourself up somewhere. I am just saying conscious daily communication. Have conscious daily perpetual engagements with The Holy Spirit.

Someone says to me, “Pastor, I want to know who to marry. I want The Holy Spirit to tell me who to marry.” So, I say, “Okay great. How does God speak to you normally, on a day to day?” And he says, “No, God does not speak to me normally.” I say, “But you want Him to tell you who to marry?” It does not work like that. You have to hear God normally (day to day), and when it is time to get married it will be easy. You can discern the person. Someone said, “Pastor lay your hands on me, I want to be able to say, “There is someone here who has swallowed a reptile…” But this same person is not interested when God says, “Take your laptop from the house.” You say, “I do not need it”, so you ignore Him.

God says, “You need to forgive that lady” and you say, “Never! I am carrying this thing to the grave.” God says, “Give that man your car”, and you say, “My car? Get thee behind me satan!” God is telling you things, but you do not want to do them, you are not interested. All you are interested in is saying, “I am the Lord! I am the Lord!” No, it does not work like that. Let me tell you the story of “I am the Lord!” There was this brother who always liked to prophesy.

While fellowship is going on, and everybody is worshipping. He says, “Shhh, I am the Lord, I am the Lord…” and he will prophesy. So, on this day, he said, “Shhh, I am the Lord, I am the Lord. I said in my book in Matthew 29:3…”. People were tapping him, but he continued, “I am the Lord, I am speaking.” Then somebody whispered, “There is no Matthew 29, Sir.” Then he said, “I am the Lord, I am sorry.” God does not make those kinds of errors. He is God! If God says check Matthew 29, every Bible in the world would immediately have Matthew 29.

Prayer: Father, help me have consistent fellowship with The Holy Spirit, in Jesus Name. Amen!
