Let Peace Rule!
Colossians 3:15 “And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state]…” (AMPC, emphasis added).
Imagine your mind is a soccer game and the peace of God is the umpire (referee). There are certain things that are not offside, but the peace of God will rule them as offside. Why? It is because it is ruling in your favour, according to the dictates of Christ, to keep your mind and life at peace. Guess what? You have to allow it and agree for it to be offside. Everyone else can say it is a goal. Let’s say there are about thirty thousand people in the stadium and there is one referee. Everybody can shout, “Goal!”, but if the referee says, “No goal!”, what will be the final decision? No goal! That is how powerful a referee is. The question is are you going to be the referee, or is the peace of Christ going to be the referee? What is it going to be?
The people whose lives are in so much confusion, stress, and depression are the people who are their own referees. God says you are doing a very poor job. In fact, you can tell yourself that you are doing a very poor job. Step aside, let the peace of God be your referee and umpire. Do you receive that? Say Amen. Again, I ask, who is going to umpire your soul? Let it be the peace of God. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV). In other words, Jesus says, let Him be your referee. Let Him referee your mind. Let Him be the umpire. What is it going to be? Are you going to hold on to the whistle and make the call in your life? Or are you going to submit the whistle to the peace of Christ that surpasses all understanding?
To enjoy God’s promise of peace, you have to Have Peace With God. You cannot have the peace of God without having peace with God. Get Rest For Your Body. Take one day out of seven days to rest in God’s presence. Make Peace With People. Tell God What You Need. Then Keep Your Thoughts On Jesus. And perfect peace we garrison your heart. God’s presence, in the midst of an imperfect world, will take care of your situation. So, why do you want to struggle and whether the storm, when God can calm the storm that is in your life? Why do you want to keep holding on to the whistle and making the call in your soul, thoughts, and in your life? You can hand over the whistle to the peace of God that passes all understanding to be the ref of your mind. What is it going to be?
Prayer: Father, I receive Your gift of perfect peace and I surrender control in my heart, mind, and body to the peace of Christ, in the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
