Not You

Malachi 2:¹⁵ “God, not you, made marriage. His Spirit inhabits even the smallest details of marriage. And what does he want from marriage? Children of God, that’s what. So guard the spirit of marriage within you. Don’t cheat on your spouse.” (MSG)

Genesis 2:^18-23 “Then God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a companion who is right for him.’ Adam gave names to all the animals he discovered…

but he did not find a helper that was right for him. So the Lord caused the man to sleep very deeply, and while he was asleep, God removed one of the man’s ribs. Then God closed up the man’s skin at the place where he took the rib and God used the rib from the man to make a woman, and then God brought the woman to Adam.  And Adam exclaimed ‘THIS IS IT! She is part of my own flesh and bone! She will be called woman because she was taken out of a man.’” (emphasis added).

God took the woman from Adam’s rib, which is closest to his heart. God did not take the woman out of Adam’s feet. The woman is not to be trampled upon. Neither did He take the woman out of Adam’s head. He took the woman out of Adam’s ribs closest to his heart. So, God’s design is that the wife must be close to the husband’s heart. And when Adam saw her, he exclaimed, “This is it!” The literal Hebrew word for what is translated this is it is “huba huba”. And it means wow, wow, wow!!! It is a very dramatic phrase. When Adam saw his wife, he exclaimed, “Wow, Wow, Wow!!!” Remember then they were in their birthday suits. Amazing. Why GET married, STAY married, or RE-marry? Marriage is God’s idea.

Marriage is not a human idea or a cultural idea. Marriage is God’s idea, and God had good intentions. That is why the Word of God says in Malachi 2:^15-16 “God, not you, made marriage. His Spirit inhabits even the smallest details of marriage. And what does he want from marriage? Godly children from your union, that’s what. So guard the spirit of marriage within you… ‘I hate divorce,’ says the Lord. “To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “So guard your heart…” (MSG, NCV, & NLT, emphasis added). It is God that made marriage, not the government. So, if you want your marriage to work, it has to be by what God has prescribed, and not by what government has prescribed.

Marriage is God’s idea, not yours. And what God wants from marriage is Godly children. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, your children will be godly. For married couples trusting God for children, God will bless you with godly children. For everyone who has children, God will make your children godly. God does not want your children to be wayward or to be rascals. God does not want your children to be anything but godly, and so shall they be in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Father, I dedicate my marriage to You, and I declare that my marriage will accomplish Your purpose according to Your design, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
