Strength & Peace

Psalm 29:11 “The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.”

A lot of people think they are humble, and some even claim they are humble. But I say to folks, you cannot say you are humble until you have the resources to be proud, and you refuse to be proud. Meekness is strength under control. Moses was meek. Moses could call fire from heaven, but he chose not to. That is meekness. Can you call fire from heaven? For instance, someone who does not have a gun is claiming he is calm when a thief breaks into his house. You had better be calm. However, you are truly calm when you have a gun, and you choose not to shoot the thief because you are controlled. Guess what? People will not break into your house if they know you have a gun. That is how it works.

You need to be powerful (strong) and controlled. You cannot have peace if you are not strong. Psalm 29:11 The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.” (emphasis added). Can you see that strength and peace go together? If you do not have strength, you cannot have peace. People will ride on your head, trouble you, and get away with it. A nation, typically, would not launch an attack on another nation that is stronger than itself. If you are not strong, you cannot have peace. Pastor, I am not a violent person. I just want peace. I am a lover, not a fighter. I do not like trouble or fighting. Listen, you have to learn to be strong, so that you can maintain your peace. You have to be a fighter, so you can maintain your home.

If you are not a fighter, you cannot hold down even your children, your job, your business, and have your market share. You have to be a fighter. You have to be strong. So, instead of praying that God should take away the adversity, pray that God will increase your strength because adversity is not going anywhere. As long as you are here on earth, you are going to have challenges. Yet, some people appear to be enjoying this same life. Do you know why? They have built strength. God is saying, enlarge the place of your capacity for strength.

Taking away adversity actually adds no value to you. But if in trouble, you increase your strength. When the trouble goes, because every adversity has an expiry date, you would have become stronger. Ready for the next adversity, because you will surely overcome.

Prayer: Father, enlarge the place of my capacity for strength, help me build strength in times of adversity, and overcome, in Jesus Name. Amen!
