Grace Keeps
Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
I have heard people say that they are above temptation. God says you will be tempted. The Bible says that Jesus was tempted in every way (please read Hebrews 4:15). If Jesus was tempted in every way, you can’t be above temptation. No one is above temptation, but everyone can overcome temptation by the power of God’s sustaining grace. Jesus was tempted in every way, yet He did not sin. If Jesus was tempted and He never sinned, it means it is not a sin to be tempted. But it is a sin to give in to the temptation. The abiding sustaining grace of God will empower you to stand and stand firm in the Name of Jesus.
1 Corinthians 10:13 “The only temptations that you have are the temptations that all people have. But you can trust God. He will not let you be tempted more than you can stand. But when you are tempted, God will also give you a way to escape that temptation. Then you will be able to stand it.” (ICB, emphasis added). The temptation that you are facing is common, don’t specialize it. I pray for you, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, that you will see the way of escape and you will take the way of escape. This scripture is a picture of sustaining grace. When God sustains you, opens the door, and says my child escape through this route. You may be reading this, and you know in your heart that you are not standing. What you should do is call on God today, not tomorrow. Call on God even right now, talk to God and ask Him to help you; to deliver you today and so shall it be in the Name of Jesus.
Secondly, sustaining grace Keeps You Going When You Are TIRED. The truth is sometimes life can be tough. Sometimes, you just want to be cranky and just be rude to whoever walks through your door. You just don’t care who it is, want to give the person a piece of your mind. The problem is if you keep distributing pieces of your mind to different people, after a while you will have nothing left. And that is an open door to mental health issues. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “It is God who enables us… to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts…” (emphasis added).
The walk with God can only be done by the Holy Spirit. The reason some people are tired all the time is that they are trying so hard to live “the Christian life”. It is not just hard to live the Christian life; it is impossible for you as a human in your strength. Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who is at work within you, giving you the will and the power to achieve his purpose.” (PH).
Prayer: Father, by Your Holy Spirit, help me, keep me, revive me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
