The Way
Exodus 13:18 “So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle.” (emphasis added)
God’s people were out of Egypt, but Egypt was not out of them. So, God needed to get Egypt and Egypt’s tendencies out of them. Therefore, He took them in a roundabout way. God said if He takes them through the straight path, they will run back. God needed to take Egypt out of their systems, so He God took them through that route so that everything that was not compatible with where He was taking them to, He killed in the wilderness. You will experience a new chapter. God will bring you into that Promised Land, but It Is Not About The Shortest Route.
The second thing that stands out to us from the story in Exodus 13 is If You Are Facing It, Then You Can Handle It. God is saying if you are facing it, then you can handle it. Do you know why you are faced with trials and battles today? It is simply because God knows you can prevail. God will not take you through a route that will destroy you. God will only take you through a route that you will prevail in. So, if you are facing it, that means you can handle it. We often don’t know how much we can handle. But God knows how much we can handle. God will not take you through the path that will make you run back to Egypt, even if it is the shortest path. However, if He takes you through a path, it means that you can handle everything on that path.
The path He took them through was through the Red Sea. Can you imagine that? They got in front of the Red Sea, and they were crying to Moses. And God said, why are you crying before Me? You can handle it, just raise your rod, you can handle it. I did not take you through the path of the Philistines because you could not handle the Philistines. I took you through the path of the Red Sea because you can handle it. Listen, every Red Sea in your path handle it, they are going to part before you in the Name of Jesus. God is saying to you that the reason you are on that path is because you can handle the challenges that are on the path. Pause and let that sink in. Yes, you can! Are you faced with battles? God knows you can prevail.
Now let’s look at the shortest route versus the longer route. The battle is fiercest when the road is short. But when the road is long, the sustenance of God is abundant. We see manna, the parting of the Red Sea, and all sorts of things that sustain. However, the battle is fiercest when the road is shortest. If God is taking you through the straightest and shortest route, it means you are ready for the battle that is in front of you.
Prayer: Father, I surrender all to You, as I trust You to lead me along the best pathway for my life, assignment, and destiny, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
