With What?

Micah 6:⁸ “He has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?” (NRSV)

Today, I pray that God will give you understanding and give you peace in your heart in the Name of Jesus. I pray that God will give you calmness of soul, that your soul will not be troubled because you understand the heart of the matter. One of the things that we struggle with is that when we started our walk with God, a lot of us were indoctrinated, knowingly or unknowingly, by our leaders, or probably that was all they knew. We were taught that when you have accepted to follow God, then you do. You do this, and you do that. But the more you walk with God, the more you look at scriptures, the more you understand God, and you realize that, honestly, it doesn’t start with what you do. It starts with surrendering to God.

And if that is all you do, that is, if you must do something, you have done all that needs to be done. Surrendering to Him. Our walk with God does not start with what we do; it starts with who we are with Him. Okay, yes, I get it, we have to do good works. Our light has to shine before men so that men will see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven. However, you cannot give what you do not have. I am breaking this down so there will be no ambiguity in our minds. You cannot give what you do not have. You want to deliver one hour of prayer, two weeks of fasting, plus this and this spiritual activity. It is not if you deliver, it is if you surrender. Are you going to surrender? That is the crux of the matter.

This question is from generation to generation, and those who get it have beautiful and different lives. You will get it in the Name of Jesus. Micah 6:^6-8 “With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (ESV, emphasis added). Actually, these three should happen simultaneously, but if we are to take them in order, it kicks in in reverse. What I am saying is it actually starts with walking humbly with your God (surrendering), then love kindness, and then do justice.
