Drop It!

Ecclesiastes 12:¹³ “And, when all is said and done, here is the last word: worship in reverence the one True God, and keep His commands, for this is what God expects of every person.” (The Voice)

Stop beating around the bush and focus on the heart of the matter. Ecclesiastes 12:¹³ “After all this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.” (GNT). After Solomon had explored drinking, idolatry, women, and everything, he said, there is only one thing to say: have reverence for God. Check that the decision you are about to make is out of reverence for God. Can you say you fear God and you made that decision? The things you are about to say; yes, you want to say it, the person has made you angry. The person could even be your spouse. Yes, you have made up your mind to do this and do that, but fear God and reverence God in that decision.

Reverence God, then you will be able to obey His command because the command will be burdensome if you do not submit, surrender, and reverence Him. As scripture says, “…because this is all that we were created for.” Psalm 46:¹⁰ “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (NKJV). Being in that place of peace is a prerequisite for God revealing Himself in your situation. What does it mean to be still? The root word for still, and this will blow your mind, is not to be calm. It obviously leads to being calm. But the root word for still there literally means to “drop it”. Drop it and know that He is God.

What argument do you have in your mind? Drop it! What ploy do you have cooking up? Drop it! Those things that are your own machinations, drop them and know that He is God. Until you drop it, you will know or come into that experience. He won’t be exalted in your situations until you drop it. So, to be still means to drop it. You have to drop it. Now, that is obvious for our own ways, our own antics, our own plans, right? That is obvious for the things that are negative that have crept into people’s lives, right? But it is also true for things that are good. It is also true for the things that God Himself has blessed us with. What I am saying is, let’s say God has given you a brilliant idea, great plan, right? Fantastic. But guess what? You need to drop it.

If you get it, and I pray that you get it in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. You need to drop it. When you do, then He breathes on it, and then His greatness is exalted in it. Sometimes, God has blessed you with things; it is a blessing from Him, but you are keeping it from Him as though He wants to take it from you. And God is saying, “But I gave it to you.”
