John 9:8-9 “His neighbours and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?” Some said he was, and others said, “No, he just looks like him!” But the beggar kept saying, “Yes, I am the same one!”
I am sure that after yesterday’s devotional, the question on your mind is, How do I move from Independence to Freedom? One word, the link (the bridge) between Independence and Freedom is Responsibility. You can be free, but if you don’t take responsibility, you end up in bondage. When you take responsibility, and you discover that life is not about drinking Starbucks. You have to save and invest your money. You have to generate cash flow and ensure that you are financially free. Then you can buy the company called Starbucks. When sight is restored, you take responsibility for your life. You are willing to die on your feet than to be a slave and live on your knees. Until you are willing to take full responsibility, you can’t be free.
The first significance of restored sight is Renewed Perception, the second is Independence and Freedom. And the third significance of restored sight is Participation In Community. Mark 8:25-26 “Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly. Jesus sent him away, saying, “Don’t go back into the village on your way home.” After being healed, this man will be able to participate in the community better. He will be able to navigate social spaces without restraints and without stumbling. He will be able to contribute to communal activities. If someone needs help, he can get up and offer to help them. He couldn’t do that before because he himself needed somebody to lead him and help him.
He will be able to get married. It will be easier for a girl to receive him. When sight is restored, individuals can participate more fully in community life. So, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, because your sight is being restored, your perception is being renewed. You will see as you ought to see in the Mighty Name of Jesus. You will not see men as trees. You will not see friends as enemies. You will not see enemies as friends in the Name of Jesus. And because your sight is being renewed and restored, you will not just be independent, but you will also be truly free in the Name of Jesus.
And because your sight is being restored, not only will you be independent and free, but you will also be able to participate in the community. You will be able to contribute your own quota. You will be able to add value to other people’s lives.
Prayer: Father, as You restore my sight this season, empower me to see as I ought to see and to be all that You have created me to be, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
