You Matter

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’ Jer.29:11

God knows the plans that He has for us. In actual fact, you only plan for the things that are important to you. If you plan for your family, it means your family is important to you. If you plan for your finances, it means your finances are important to you. If you plan for your spiritual walk, it means that your walk with God is important to you. Of course the converse is also the case for all of the examples above. For instance, if you do not plan for your spiritual growth, it means at least for the moment it is not important to you. God says He knows the plans He has towards you. In other words, God is saying you are important to Him. God is saying you matter. Many times we allow ourselves to be consumed by what people think about us. Many times the people are not even thinking about you. You need to get over yourself because this kind of obsession only leads to bondage. However, when what occupies your thoughts is what God thinks about you then you experience freedom. God alone knows the plans that He has for you. This is not to discount the fact that knowing what people think about you is good. Jesus asked His disciples to check if they had a clue who He was [Matt.16:15]. It is possible to have people who work with you day and night and they have no clue who you are. It is possible for you to sleep and wake up with your spouse and the person has no clue who you are. Until you know your spouse, it will be really difficult to appreciate them. Have you discerned the person in your life? Ask God and He will reveal it to you. Also for the singles, before you even agree to get married to any one, ask God to tell you who the person is. And Peter Said, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God’ Jesus immediately said ‘because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being’ [Matt.16:16-17]. This means that you cannot really know except God reveals it to you. God says you matter, walk in this truth every day of your life
