Grow and Distribute Wealth
‘Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain’ Luke 12:18.
‘The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest’ Luke 12:16. The next step in growing financial roots is to grow wealth. Generate, retain, and then grow wealth. Learn and practice investment strategies in order to grow wealth. If at the beginning of the year you had marked ‘X’ as your growing funds and at the end of the year all you still have is ‘X’, then you need to learn how to grow funds. The next step is to learn how to distribute wealth. This was what tripped this man over [Luke 12:16-21]. God said to Abraham and He is saying to us ‘I will bless you and you will be a blessing’. In other words we must learn how to distribute wealth. The Bible said about the man that his land brought forth more than expected, he had increase. What was the strategy – I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry. That was the beginning of his problem because increase in income should not translate to increase in spending. You just got a pay raise and even though there is nothing wrong with the car you are driving you decide to get a new one because your neighbor just bought one too. There is definitely something wrong with that. Such a person needs to be delivered from low self-esteem because the car you drive should not determine the person you are. God wants us to plan our own transfer of wealth, allocating it to people in genuine need. We choose to deliberately transfer wealth and as a result our roots will grow. Plan your giving, plan what you will give on Sunday [1Cor.16:1-2]. Excess income should not lead to excess spending. What you do with the excess and the increase God has given you will determine what God will do next.
Prayer: Father, I pray that my land would yield an abundant harvest this year. And when the increase comes, may I never forget Your purposes, in Jesus Name.
