Error To Avoid II

Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit.In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle’ Prov.23:4-5

Our final lesson from the parable Jesus told [Luke 12:16-21] and a major key to growing financial roots is do not trust in wealth. Riches can develop wings and fly away. Do not put your trust in money. Many of us think it is impossible for us to put our trust in wealth. It is because we really don’t have a lot of money. Those who have a lot of money will tell you how they have to consistently put God before their faces and consistently renew their trust in Jesus. It is very easy for your heart to drift and begin to trust in money, so stay alert. Where is your trust? During a crisis, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Is it to seek God’s help or to throw money at the problem? If your first response is to throw money at the problem then your trust is in money. Sadly, it is not only the wealthy that tend to trust in money. Even the poor that do not have money yet are also trusting in money as their hope for a future. You cannot afford to trust in wealth. Instead put your trust in God who is the source of all things seen and unseen. ‘But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with [financial] roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruitJer.17:7-8. The heat or the long months of drought will not bother you. If your trust is in the Lord then no matter the season what you will do is give without being logical about it. ‘…It is more blessed to give then to receive’ Acts.20:35. That is how God works. As your roots in God go deeper, you get more nourishment, and more supply. Where is your trust? Are you trusting in the government to sort out the poverty problem or are you trusting God to work out everything for your good and for the good of this nation [Ps.125:1].

Prayer [song]: ‘My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name. On Christ the solid Rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand (2x)’
