Hear Clearly

‘Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches’ Rev.2:29 [MSG]

The eagle can hear clearly. Some eagles dwell in the mountain, yet it is possible for the eagle to be on one side of the mountain and hear clearly the movement of a reptile on the other side of the mountain. The eagle may not be able to see its prey but it can hear every move and as such know exactly where the reptile is and where it is headed. This attribute makes it easy for the eagle to move swiftly, swoop down and pick the reptile.

How does this apply to us? Jesus repeatedly admonishes us to ‘watch and pray’. Sometimes in the Christian walk, especially if you are sensitive to the Holy Spirit, clear hearing is an active part of watching. It is possible for the Holy Spirit to show you things but many times He will lead you by the ear. You must learn to hear and to hear clearly. ‘The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice’ John 10: 3-5.

We must sharpen our ears to hear the Word of God. The Bible says once God has spoken, twice shall we hear that power belongs to God. Many are the ears that listen but few are the ears that hear. Many are the eyes that look but few they say are the eyes that see. Again God is saying don’t be a parrot. A parrot is quick to speak and everything it hears it wants to say. It gets a revelation from God and everybody must hear about it. ‘Be slow to speak, be quick to hear and be slow to wrath’ James 1:19. Just listen and digest it first. Repeatedly in scripture, the Bible says that ‘today if you will hear his voice don’t harden your heart’. So hearing God’s voice is one thing, responding is another thing. The eagle hears clearly and moves accordingly.

Prayer: Father, I ask that You will take away everything that is stopping me from hearing You clearly. I receive clear hearing today, in Jesus Name.
