Face The Storm I
‘He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor’ Ps.107:29.
The eagle soars along the direction of the wind. An eagle looks for and flies into the storm. When a storm is raging, an eagle flies straight into the storm. Other lesser birds [chickens, pigeons, parrots, vultures] will run for cover.
How does this relate to us? We have to see storms and run to them. Believe me! It is important to note however that not every storm is your storm. It will be foolish to run into storms that are not yours to face. Again this is where you need the Holy Spirit as your guide. For me for example, there are battles that I take on but there are also battles that I will not enter no matter what stories I am told. The reason is it is not my business. I love the person; I can say a word of prayer for the person and hope that God will hear. But I will not enter that storm at all because there are enough that I need to deal with.
There is a storm that is brewing, what do you do as a Christian? God expects you to face it headlong. God does not expect that you and I will be running away from challenges. God expects that you face the challenges headlong. Perhaps you are running a business and you are supposed to have made a payment but you are falling short on resources. God expects you to take the initiative, face your customers and deal with it. Face the storm instead of hiding like a chicken. A lot of business people just go and hide. Face the storm! God expects us to run straight to the storm. Perhaps a storm is brewing in your marriage, don’t look in the other direction, face it. Don’t sweep issues under the carpet. There are a lot of couples that say ‘I just don’t want to talk about this’. It may not be a good time I agree but, guess what, you cannot stay that way forever. You have to deal with the issue; you have to face the storm. Can it rock that marriage to its foundation? Yes but will you survive it? Yes because you are an eagle Christian. You are not a chicken, or a parrot, or a vulture, and certainly not a sparrow. You are an eagle.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to discern correctly the storms that I encounter and the grace to face the storms I should headlong, in Jesus Name.
