Blessing God
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits’ Ps.103:1-2[KJV]
There is something about blessing God with what He has blessed you with. It is a sacrifice that touches God’s heart. Abraham blessed the Lord deeply by agreeing to offer Isaac. A long awaited blessing but even at that Abraham did not hold it back from God. David had been blessed with honor by God and
before men to stand as king over Israel. When the time came for someone to be the fool before God, David dropped his royalty at the throne and danced before the Lord. The Bible is filled with examples of men who blessed God with the very gift He gave to them. As you walk with God, it is important to realize that opportunities will come for you to bless the Lord with the very gift He has given you. ‘…may I never forget the good things he does for me’. At a point in my life, God blessed me with a Porsche. That car to me was a first fruit of a kind of cars. A time came that God was calling for the car and I agreed to sell it and give the money to Him. Not only will I bless God but also I understand the principle of seed and harvest with God. Thank God I have been blessed with a wife who challenges me in giving so I had her support. Again, with such sacrifices, God is most interested in the heart. One day as I was driving home after a long day, I noticed someone trying to flag me down. I tried to shake him off but he followed me. May we not run from our blessings in Jesus Name. I did not know that God was going to use that guy mightily and I was running. So I stopped and after all the pleasantries he says ‘I am going to give you five million naira’ which covered the amount I would have sold the car for. So I blessed God with the money as a first fruit because the car had been redeemed. This thing no body can teach you, if you don’t enter into it, you don’t enter into it. If they don’t open your eyes you can’t see it. I pray your eyes will be opened in Jesus Mighty Name. ‘Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need’ Matt.6:33.
Thought: What is that first fruit sacrifice that God is calling for? Until you lay it down, it remains a master over your life. Let nothing own you but Christ Jesus.
