In Submission
‘So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him’ Matt.7:11
We have to live our daily lives in submission to Christ Jesus. We have to wrestle between the choice to use God as a vending machine and the choice to live our lives in complete submission to Him. And trust that God will not withhold anything good from us. Living daily in submission to Christ – following and trusting him is a decision every Christian has to make. Or are you going to choose to live according to your flesh and then consult God as a vending machine to get stuff when you need it. And once you are done collecting what you need from Him, you continue to live your life according to your own plan? If you choose the later then know that you have settled for a life that is void of the power and the abiding presence of God. The reason is that there cannot be two captains in a ship. Jesus is either Lord or you are lord. So who is Lord over your life? As they say, Jesus is either Lord of all or Jesus is not lord at all. You and I have to struggle with this daily. Paul puts it this way ‘I die daily’. In other words, he kills his own ability and willingness to control his life every day and turns over the control of his life to Christ Jesus. If you choose to live like this you will experience the real transforming power of the Holy Spirit. This is why the Bible says ‘having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…’ 2 Tim.3:5 [KJV]. They look like the original, know what to say, know the innuendos and the clichés. They know when to shout hallelujah and when to raise their hands but as soon as they step out of church they become something else totally. Having a form of godliness and denying the power thereof. God wants our lives to consistently give Him praise. Jesus came to make that possible because by ourselves we cannot achieve it. The best of our works is like filthy rags before God. The purpose of Easter is that through Jesus, God can take pleasure in us.
Prayer: Father, my desire is to live a life that You can take pleasure in. Holy Spirit teach me how to make myself more available to You, in Jesus Name.
