Barak

‘O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel [barak] before the Lord our maker.’ Ps.95:6 [KJV].

To Barak means to kneel down and to bless God as an act of adoration. Many people have an issue with kneeling down and blessing God in worship. Some people say ‘God sees my heart; He sees that I am kneeling down in my heart’. I don’t disagree with that, I know it can start from the heart. However, let your life flow from the abundance of your heart. If it is so easy for you to kneel in your heart then let it flow into your actions as part of your worship to God. ‘O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel [barak] before the Lord our maker’ Ps.95:6 [KJV]. When you see bow down in scripture, it does not end with bowing the head alone. Sometimes it refers to bowing the head but a lot of the time when you see bow down in scripture it means to kneel down and sometimes to fall prostrate before God. It is a powerful thing for your children to see you consistently kneel before God. I went to pray sometime ago with a family, the reason why I am sharing this experience is because it made so much impact on me. In this family, the father is huge, the mother is huge, and the children are huge. And as soon as I said let us pray the father, mother, and children went down on their knees. When you are standing before huge people and they are going down so fast in the place of prayer, it registers in your mind. Yet I have also been with another family to pray and after I initiated prayer, the mother was still telling the son ‘close your eyes, stop chewing gum, we want to pray’ and the child was still chewing gum. In one family I can see that the parents are impacting the next generation. In the other family, I can see that they have no clue as to their responsibilities as parents. ‘And David said to all the congregation, Now bless [barak] the Lord your God. And all the congregation blessed [barak] the Lord God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the Lord, and the king’ 1 Chr.29:20. I am certain that your praise has greatly changed and it will improve even further as you make these expressions of worship a lifestyle.

Than to bow and kneel before Your throne. I’m amazed at Your glory, embraced by Your mercy, Oh Lord, I live to worship You.
