Hosanna!
‘… all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen. Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!’ Luke 19:37-38
Some of these people had issues, some of them had testimonies, some of them had challenges but they still took off their cloths and shouted ‘Hosanna to the Son of David’. The demand on us is to worship regardless of what we are going through because God’s ways are not our ways. You will notice a pattern here; the first group of people to take off their cloths and put it down were the disciples. This is a pattern with God, He will start with leadership, and ommitment always starts with leadership. The disciples by themselves took off their own cloths and put it on the donkey for Jesus to ride on. And as Jesus was riding on it, everybody was taking off their cloths and laying it down. The people who did not take off their cloths, got palm frond by themselves and they put it on the ground. Imagine you came out of your house with your starched white shirt and you see this 33year old man riding on a donkey. Then you take off your shirt and put it on the floor but it’s the donkey that rides on it. It was not Jesus’ feet that touched the cloths; it was the donkeys’. Some of us have an issue with that. You are in a Life group and God is saying honor your leader but you are saying who is he – an ordinary donkey. Is it because you can see their flaws?
A donkey is a donkey, why would any human being take off his cloths and put it on the floor for a donkey to ride on? Does that make sense? No, but that is hallelujah – being clamorously foolish for God. Hallelujah means to rave, to celebrate, and to be clamorously foolish. Jesus has said to a couple of us, ‘I want you to stand and to share the gospel in your class’. And you say to Jesus ‘Lord, they are going to laugh at me’. Exactly, that is hallelujah – being a fool for God. Do it. For some of us God has given us clear instructions that do not even make financial sense. God has made it clear that this is His leading but you are saying ‘Lord I know you are God but this is the real world’. It does not have to make sense with Jesus because at the end of the day everything will work out for your good. Just do it – just obey Jesus.
Prayer: Jehovah, You are Lord. Lord over my life, Lord over my decisions, Lord over my finances, Lord over my family. I will worship You with all that I have, in Jesus Name.
