It Is Time

John 4:10 “Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

How have you been responding to Jesus? The Samaritan woman got the gift God had for her and got to know who she was speaking to because she chose to be vulnerable. It is easy to look at this Samaritan woman and call her different names. But the question remains, how are you responding to Jesus? When you stop shielding yourself, you come into the experience of Messiah. Hiding gives us a false sense of control. You think you have deceived everybody, but you are in pain. You need help, you need a Saviour. Jesus wants to save you, are you going to open your heart to Him and be vulnerable? Are you going to stop hiding so that you can start shining?

The truth is that we cannot really control anything. If you check, you did not control the day you were born, and you will not control the day you will die if Jesus tarries. You did not control who gave birth to you or who your parents are. You did not control the country you were born into. You did not control where you grew up. For many of us, if we were to choose our parents, we will choose other people Guess what? You did not get to choose or control those who were at your naming ceremony or the names you were given. You will not control those that will be at your funeral if Jesus tarries. So, we really do not have control. In fact, one unforgettable lesson covid 19 pandemic taught the world is that we really do not have control. Man does not really have control. However, even though you and I do not have control and we cannot control things, we can surrender. You and I will always have the power to surrender even though we do not have the power to control. We will always, always have the power to surrender.

The woman by the well made her choice to stop trying to control the events in her life. She had been married several times and the man she was even living with was not her husband. She could not control how people perceived or received her. But she had the power to surrender to Jesus and be vulnerable. Jesus responded by revealing Himself to her. Wow! John 4:25-26 “The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah!”. When you remove the mask, you see The Christ. When you stop hiding, you start shining. Because the Samaritan woman took off her mask and chose to be vulnerable, she experienced Jesus first hand and she became a light to her entire community. Guess what? Nothing else mattered but Christ. What is it going to be today?

Jesus Himself is inviting you to experience the gift God has for you. Ask Him and He will give you living water; cry out to Jesus today, surrender to Him. To get up and to walk in resurrection power, to be all that we were made to be, to arise and to shine in the brightness that God has made for us, we must know the Living Jesus, that Jesus Christ is alive. We must know the King Jesus, that Jesus Christ is King. And we must know the Present Jesus, that Jesus Christ is present.

Prayer [song]: I surrender all (2x), all to Thee my blessed Savour, I surrender all. Amen!
