Team Building
Dan.2:17-18 “Daniel …told his companions Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah what was going on. He asked them to pray to the God of heaven for mercy in solving this mystery so that the four of them wouldn’t be killed along with the whole company of Babylonian wise men.” (MSG)
We will kick off today’s devotional from where our final point yesterday. Great people always build teams. Yesterday, we began to look at the major areas of our lives also outlined in the goals card inserted. We said in your career, you have to build a team that will make your career dreams a reality. So, how do you do that? You must have pairs. This does not mean that they have to sign a join-my-team form. Then you must deliberately build relationships with superiors. With people that will be at the meeting when they are deciding whether if you be promoted. There are people who will speak for you, where you cannot speak for yourself. They have to be part of your carrier team. When you form that team, you serve that team. So that when the time comes, and they need to promote one person and somebody needs to speak, you will have someone in there that is speaking.
Let’s chronicle the area of health. Your doctor should be part of your health team, your dentist, your fitness crew. For fitness, you must have a team. Who do you work out with? Build a fitness team. You can go further with a team than you can go by yourself. Build a team! In your finances, build a team. In spiritual growth, build a team. Hananiah (Shadrach), Mishael (Meshach), and Azariah (Abednego) were Daniel’s team. When there was a tough problem in the land, Daniel went to the king and said asked for some time. After that, who did Daniel call? Daniel called his team and said, ‘Look, we are going to crack this thing. Let’s begin to pray.’ (paraphrased). When push comes to shove, do you have a spiritual team?
This is why you have to join a life group. You must have a relationship with the life group (house fellowship) leader. You must have a relationship with someone that is ahead of you spiritually. And in that relationship, you must be accountable because you are only as accountable as you want to be. You must be open because you are only as open as you want to be. Do you have a team? Do you have a team you can call like Daniel could call Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and ask them to join hands with him in prayer? Do you have a team, do you have a spiritual team? If you do not, you need to form one today. Join a live group.
But in building your team, it cannot just be anyone. You cannot just build your team with just anybody. You cannot because everyone you meet is representing a power. Believe it or not. Everyone you meet is representing a power. You start a new job, for example, you meet your secondary schoolmate of twenty years ago at that office. Then reconnect and add him to your team. Wrong, because twenty years is a long time, and do not know what has happened. You cannot just add anyone to the team you are building.
Prayer: Father, I ask for a fresh infilling of Your Holy Spirit to enable build the right teams in every area of my life and to serve those teams, in Jesus Name. Amen!
