Your Response, II
1 John 1:5 “This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there’s not a trace of darkness in him.” (MSG).
Listen, there is no darkness whatsoever, there is no shadow of turning, no variableness in God. God is light, pure light. Since God is light and God is shining upon you, and you are like a tree, you will take the light of God and produce sustenance. Your spirit is nourished. Your soul is nourished. Your body is nourished. Your spirit is nourished, you are spiritually strong. You have vitality in your spirit. Your soul is nourished, and you are strong in your mind. Depression is far away from you. Anger bouts far away from you. Your mind is robust and strategic in thinking. You are strong in your body because you take God’s light and produce things that can feed your family. That is huge.
Photosynthesis is the first basic way plants (you are I), trees by the rivers of water respond to light – the glory of God. We bask in His light, and as we take in His light, we produce. We convert that light energy to chemical energy. We can never, ever, ever be stranded. We can never, ever, ever be hungry in the Name of Jesus. You will not be stranded. You will not be hungry in the Name of Jesus. I know you are trying to wrap your mind around this thing and trying to grapple with it. Psalm 37:25 “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.” Who are the Godly? The Godly are those that belong to God.
The light of God is upon you, and you respond by photosynthesis. You take the light, and you produce. You are strong in your spirit. You are strong in your soul. You are strong in your body. You engage in the process of taking that light energy and converting it into sustenance. You produce. Your light has come, and that light is protective. There is a story of a very young baby bear that was left alone. A lion spotted the vulnerable, unprotected baby bear and ran towards it. The baby bear froze in fear when it spotted the lion. The lion was about ten feet away, about to pounce on the baby bear. Then suddenly, the lion stopped and started to retreat.
Then it turned and ran away. And the baby bear must have felt that it was strong enough to frighten the lion. Only for it to look back and mama bear was behind it. A lot of times, we feel like that baby bear. We see lions running, we see situations bowing, and we conclude that we must be strong. It is the light of the Lord that is shining upon you.
Prayer (song): …Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us. Set us free by the truth You now bring us. Shine on me, shine on me. Shine Jesus shine… Amen!
