Blessedness!
‘How blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the land’ Matt.5:5 [CJB]
There are things that we all want from life. Things such as face to face communication with God, access to the resources of heaven, comfort when we are going through affliction, to inherit the earth, we want people to call us children of God, and we want to have possessions and prosperity. Jesus has His own way to achieving this ‘blessedness’ and we are trusting God to open our eyes and teach us Himself as we walk daily with Him. ‘Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth’ Matt 5:5. There are similarities between being humble and being meek. Being meek is slightly different from being humble. There is a land that God has for you. It could be in your health, marriage, finances, or it could even be a physical land. It could be peace in your marriage, it could be acceleration in your academics, and it could be whatever you are trusting God for that represents land for you. God is saying, ‘blessed are the meek for they will inherit the land. What does Jesus mean when He says inherit? The word inherit is the Greek word kleronomeo, which means to obtain an inheritance properly by lot or assignment. God is saying blessed are the meek for they will have land assigned to them, they will have territories assigned to them, they will have spheres of influence assigned to them, and they will be prosperous in the land. If you desire prosperity then meekness is something you want to pay attention to and grow in your life. So to be meek is to be mild and that is so interesting because many of us naturally are far from being mild. But God is saying to be meek is to be mild. What then does being mild mean? To be mild is to be temperate, moderate, patient, enduring injuries without resentment. So, even while someone is hurting you or you are going through a period of a trial, you must display patience without being resentful. The question is – are you mild? Can your neighbor say you are meek/mild? Remember the possession of your land [whatever your land represents] is tied to your meekness.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I submit my all to You, help me to become self-controlled, moderate, patient, and endure injuries without resentment, in Jesus Name.
