You Are A Child?

‘So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him’ Matt.7:11

There is an English proverb that says the patient dog eats the fattest bone. But this generation says – no way! The patient dog will starve to death. That is what this generation interprets this proverb to mean. Yet with God the patient dog still eats the fattest bone but even beyond that you are not a dog! You are a child of God. So if your Father says I have a land for you, be patient! Do you trust Him enough to be patient? Or would you manufacture your Ishmael?

In my early years of providing pastoral care, a lady who I had been praying with and believing God for a life partner for suddenly said that she was done with waiting and felt like a child. Initially I didn’t understand what she meant. So my response was very scriptural, Jesus says except we be converted and be like one of these little ones, we will not enter the Kingdom of God. She immediately corrected my thinking, what she really meant was she wanted to have a child. ‘But how, you are not married yet’ I responded. But she had it all planned, she would just get a man to get her pregnant and that was it. She was convinced she did not need men; all she really needed was comfort. Be patient! As much as what you are going through is excruciating, you just have to be patient. If you are patient you will inherit the land. I’ve seen a lot of people, male and female, who got married and decided that they were better off single. Meanwhile before the promise of marriage came through it was as though the whole world was going to fall down. Be patient! Say it out loud to yourself – Be patient! ‘Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance. Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promisedHeb.6:12 & 15. You need faith and patience to inherit the promise. To be meek is to be mild; to be mild is to be patient. He is the Ancient of Days, believe me, He is worth waiting for and He will make your wait worth it!

Prayer: Precious Spirit of God, work in me Lord so that my life will produce fruits of patience, in Jesus Name.
