Be Doers

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves… he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” (NKJV)

The Books You Read mould and stretch your brain. The Conversations You Have exercise and sharpen your mind. Learning Something New creates the capacity necessary to access systems and processes that will baffle the world. Learn a new thing. Use your non-dominant limb. This is so powerful. There was a time when I was learning to write with my left hand. It forced me to think, and forced my mind to make certain connections, thus training my brain. Try it. Well, I do not play soccer like I used to anymore. When it comes to playing soccer, I am right-footed. Guess what? I trained my left foot. My left foot can do almost everything my right foot can do. When you train your non-dominant limbs or your non-dominant parts, it energizes your brain.

The left part of your brain controls the right part of your body, and the right part of your brain controls the left part of your body. So, when you engage your non-dominant limbs, you are building fresh pathways in your brain. And guess what? They can be deployed and redeployed for other uses that are more powerful. Do new things, learn something new. Another way to learn something new is to talk to someone new. Talk to someone in the church. There are people that you have never spoken to before in church. You see them but you have never spoken to them. After the worship experience this weekend, walk up to them, introduce yourself, and have a conversation. Your brain will develop fresh neural pathways. You are training your brain, because you are operating outside of your comfort zone.

Another way of training your brain is the Proper Processing Of Experiences. When you travel, think and process your trip. Reconstruct your experience in your mind. Your brain gets trained when you properly process your experiences. Properly process your experience of nature. Some people have a backyard or balcony they have never explored. Go out there, sit down, look at the trees, birds, clouds forming, and be in awe of God. Let your brain actually process and reconstruct your experiences.

The Art of Creating trains and stretches your mind. Just create something. Write a book. It can even be a three-page book. Journal. Use a matchstick to create a tent, or a human skeleton. Create something. If you can play a musical instrument, create new music. It helps you.

Prayer: Father, as I engage and do these things, let Your hand of blessing, increase, promotion, and enlargement rest mightily on me, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
