Hydrate & Focus
John 7:37-38 “On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
When you get dehydrated physically, you lose strength and coordination. They say your mental reasoning drops just because you do not have enough water in your system. So, the key thing is to stay hydrated. In the same way, people are dehydrated physically, people also get dehydrated spiritually. Spiritual dehydration. A lot of people are weak and uncoordinated spiritually because they are not drinking enough water. Jesus says you should come to Him and drink because He is the water of life. You do not need to be dehydrated spiritually.
Jesus’ water is available to you by His Word, by His Spirit. So, how do you drink spiritual water practically? By ingesting and taking in the Word of God. By taking in the Spirit of life. By taking in worship. By allowing worship to wash over you. By allowing the Word to wash over you. By engaging in prayer. You should be committed to drinking the pure water of life. You should be committed to watering your life and destiny with the pure water of God’s Spirit. Unfortunately, people would rather drink different things than drink water. God is saying, are you hungry for the real unadulterated water from His presence? What do you want the most?
And with the water of God, hunger and thirst for it is big. What are you hungry for? What are you thirsty for? Isaiah 55:1-2 “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good…”? In other words, why spend your resources to take in water that will not refresh you? Hunger is big. You cannot grow beyond your level of hunger. Most times, what dissipates our hunger is misplaced priority. For instance, you have your destiny ahead of you, but you want to play with your friends.
And because of that, you do not give the appetite that is required to your work. You do not give the appetite that is required to your work. You do not give the bite that is required to your studies. You do not give the bite that is required to your destiny. So, many people lose opportunities. I was watching a video of Kevin Hart. He said when he was going to do the S.A.T., his friend had an adventure planned for the same day. On the day, he wanted to finish quickly so he could go on the adventure, and he was shading A. B. A. C. A. D. A. B. A. He went for the adventure but flunked the exam. Guess what? His friends had done their S.A.T. a week earlier and they all passed. So, they went to colleges, and he went to a community college.
Prayer: Father, help me to stay hydrated and focused on my destiny, in Jesus Name. Amen!
