Crucial Coach

1 Peter 5:7 “Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.” (TPT)

Once you have Decided On The Vision For Your Future, the next thing you need to decide on is How To Navigate Stress. Stress is a real part of life; it is not new. However, if we do not navigate it well, it can be a problem. Stress drains energy. So, even when you see a very hopeful bride, if she has to plan her wedding herself what happens? She is stressed out. But if someone pays for a wedding planner and for everything that is going to happen. And all the bride has to do is cross her legs and appear pretty on the wedding day, what happens? She is stressless because she has navigated her stress. Stress drains strength and energy.

One of the keys we find in scripture on how to navigate stress is to find a coach. Yes, stress is not a new thing, but you need a coach to navigate stress and to live a stressless stress-free life. Matthew 19:28-29 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (NIV, emphasis added). This is a big claim Jesus is making here, huge! I pray that God will give us insight into this in Jesus Name. What Jesus is saying in essence, is learn from me, let me be your coach. Take my yoke, let me train you. I am not going to bamboozle you or impress you with my knowledge. I am going to give you results.

There are a lot of systems out there—stress management systems, life coaches doing this and that. Thank God for the systems but guess what? Stress management is not found in a system. It is found in a Person—His Name is Jesus. The antidote to stress is not in a system, it is in a Person and His Name is Jesus. Jesus is saying to you today, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30, MSG).

Jesus is saying to you today that the antidote to stress and the way to have victory over stress is to Take His yoke and learn from Him. What does Take my yoke mean? The word yoke in this context means purpose. Take my purpose. The illustration I would typically give is that of oxen yoked together. They have the same purpose, and they are going in the same direction.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask You to be my coach and teach me. I choose today to let go of my purpose and take on Yours, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen
