Not Without Faith
‘And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him’ Heb.11:6.
Faith is the number one pleasing factor when it comes to relating with God. Without faith in your heart you cannot please God. While man looks on the outward appearance and might be fooled by lip service, God looks to your heart. And when He looks and does not find faith then we are not pleasing to Him. But you will please God because you will have faith. You need to constantly hear God to know how to go about pleasing Him at every stage of your walk with God. The Word is one sure way to hear God constantly. So I encourage you to surround yourself with God’s Word, spoken and written. If you can grow in faith just by hearing the Word of God, it therefore means that you can become increasingly pleasing to God. The Word of God is very powerful but until you know His Words, they are useless to you. ‘All things work together for good for them that love God and are called according to His purpose’. This is God’s Word for you. Hearing it constantly builds your understanding and your faith, and then you are able to not worry about anything.
Your heart is the second key thing in pleasing God. Our walk with God is a heart walk. The difference between Saul and David was the heart. Two Christians ask God for the same thing at the same time. God responds and gives to one but not the other. If you dig deep you will most likely discover that it is a heart issue. ‘And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure’ James 4:3 [NLT]. Your heart can be either wrong or right with God and God checks the heart. Men can see you and say guilty, but God can see you and say innocent. Guess what, its only God’s verdict that will stand. God taught Samuel this wonderful lesson in the house of Jesse. Everyone he picked as the likely options for king were nothing compared to God’s choice. He was looking on the outside but God looks at the heart. Men may focus on the outside but God says the heart has to be right. The heart has to be right because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Prayer: Father, please place a guard over my heart to protect the place of Your Word so that I am constantly renewed from the inside out, in Jesus Name.
