‘…For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it’. Luke18:16b-17
Some people want to enter into the Kingdom and the abundance of God but are ‘too big’ to meet the requirements. Jesus says whoever wants to enter the Kingdom of God must come as a little child. In other words, entering the Kingdom means shredding every trace of pride, self-righteousness, self-sufficiency etc. For the Kingdom of God to manifest in your finances, marriage, education, you must receive the Kingdom as a child would. Being a child as it required for the Kingdom has nothing to do with your actual age. Kingdom requirements cannot be figured out logically but by the Spirit. ‘There are things about Him that people cannot see… But since the beginning of the world those things have been easy to understand by what God has made. So people have no excuse…’ Rom.1:20 [NCV]. Accepting the Kingdom like a child means being quick to forgive; playing a lot; and believing easily. A child will believe anything their father says, because to the child it is impossible for their father to lie. A child will not only believe but he will also boast about it to his friends and refuse any contrary report. The Kingdom of God is not for big boys and big girls but for little children. A big boy named Nicodemus came to Jesus asking ‘how can a man enter this Kingdom? Jesus answered ‘except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God’. Nicodemus reasoning logically said ‘can a man enter into his mother and be reborn?’ Jesus replied ‘except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom’ [John.3:1-5]. God has put before us an open door, access to the Kingdom. You have to make up your mind to enter in as a child and by the Spirit. Your access is tied to quick forgiveness, the joy of the Spirit and your belief in Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I ask that you educate me on what it means to be a child and receive the Kingdom as a child. Teach me what I must do to be a child as required by the Kingdom in Jesus Name.
