Inspite Of Fear

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comesProv. 3:25.

For you to fulfill your destiny, you will have to do some things regardless of the fear you feel. Long ago, a friend of mine was consistently failing her final professional exams. What was the problem? She studies hard for her exam but she said that every time she gets afraid, she knows she is going to fail the exam. And that is exactly how it plays out. I told her the Bible says that you have to face the fear and inspite of the fear pass the exams. So I showed her this scripture, “Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes Prov. 3:25.

So when the fear comes and attempts to paralyze you, stand up against the fear in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Do not worry about or focus on dispelling the fear, instead confront the fear and act regardless. Guess what? She prepared for the exam, the fear came but she wrote the exam inspite of the fear and she passed. You have to take that next step in spite of the fear you feel. You may be afraid of the unknown but you have to step on the water.

Looking back at my life, there are a lot of things I did afraid. But I have learnt to move inspite of the fear I feel. Some of my friends and colleagues look at some of the steps I have taken and ask, “where you not afraid when you took this step”? The truth is I was afraid. They never really believe me because they say I did not look afraid. A week before God’s Favourite House moved to its own property, a Pastor friend was in town so I took him to the site. At that time the place was still just jungle and knee-deep swamp. I told him our plan was to worship on that land in a week and he prayed a very powerful prayer. The evening of the first service on the land, he called to find out if things went as planned. And he was shocked to hear we actually worshiped on the land. I thought to myself, so he did not even believe the prayers he prayed.

Was I afraid to make that move? Of course I was but I know that, He that watches over Israel does not slumber nor sleep. The Lord is my keeper. The Lord is my shade upon my right hand. The sun shall not smite me by day, nor the moon at night. I learnt to do a lot of things afraid and you should too.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please help me not to be afraid of sudden fear when it comes. I ask for the grace to move and act inspite of the fear I might feel, in Jesus Name.
