Believe!
“The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?” Luke 24:5
One of the things that Jesus requires from you is for you to believe in Him. When it was time for Jesus to be baptized and John the Baptist saw Him approaching, John stopped what he was doing and said “behold the Lamb of God’. John did not say behold the Lamb of God that came to explain the sins of the world. The foundation of our faith is not in reason. The foundation of our faith is in believing. The foundation of our faith is not in understanding. You need to understand but the foundation of our faith is not in understanding. The foundation of our faith is in believing. As much as understanding helps believing, it is useful. As much as reason helps believing, it is useful. Only believe!
As a nine-year-old boy, I did not know how the bicycle worked. I did not know the suspensions, the hydraulics if there was any. I did not know how the gear system worked. I did not know how the brake tension and pad worked. All I knew was how to ride the bicycle. Today, I still do not fully understand how my car works. If you say until you fully understand you will not enter a car, what will happen to you? We take the word of the manufacturer for it, that all I need to do is pedal and this bicycle will move. And once I began to pedal, the bicycle began to move. All I need to do is start the car and it will move. And we just engage the gear; we do not know what happens in the transmission and the car starts to move. Do you know how the plane flies? Do you have to fully understand the engine before you board an airplane? It is not important. All we need to do is put our faith in the airline and in the pilot.
Jesus, the Maker of the heavens and earth is saying to you and I, “I am the Resurrection and the Life. If you believe in Me you will see the glory of the Lord, only believe”! Logic says to us, God does not make sense but does He have to make sense? Does the bicycle have to make sense to a nine-year-old boy for him to ride it and become the local champion? Does the car have to make sense before you can travel? To deploy the Power of God, you do not need to fully understand how it works; all you need to know is how to ride it. Only believe!
Prayer [song]: I believe in Jesus. I believe He is the Son of God. I believe He died and rose again. I believe He paid for us all. And I believe He is here now, standing in our midst. Here with the power to heal now and the grace to forgive. Amen!
