Remember Me

‘This is My body, which is given for you. Do this to Remember Me…, This cup is the new covenant between God and His people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this to Remember Me as often as you drink it’ 1 Cor.11: 24-25

Did you ever relish the delightful experience of the toy Lego? The joy you get when you put the pieces together; when you break up the pieces and embark on a new shape forming adventure. Awesome! Looking at Lego, you can almost guess that its inventors intended to teach us from a very young age the importance of putting things together, the importance of building and the fact that broken pieces can be put together again – re-membered. Are there still toys like this today that create a learning experience for our children even while they are playing? Hope this is the kind of toy your children play with. ‘Do this to Remember Me’, each time we partake in the miracle of Holy Communion, like Lego, we are putting pieces of the Body and the Blood together to form a whole. We are re-membering Jesus. For every opportunity you have to sit at the table prepared by our Lord Jesus at Communion, know that once the Body and the Blood come together, life births anew. Also trust that the life that is in the Body and the Blood will satisfy your being and swallow everything that is dying in your life. Then watch the fullness and wholeness that His wounded body paid for come to pass in your life as you believe. Let your knowledge of the Lego toy help you form in your imagination the miracle that Holy Communion represents. The Body and the Blood are gifts of wholeness, and a command to re-member Christ in us frequently. In other words, Jesus is saying complete in His Body and Blood is all that is needed to satisfy us in this life and the next. It is amazing how Jesus connects everything; ‘For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink’ John 6:55.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask that You be re-membered in every area of my life this year. Let the power that is in the Body and the Blood make me whole and birth new life in me, in Jesus Name.
