As We Ought

1Jn.3:14 “If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.” (emphasis added).

God is clear, the proof that we have passed from death to life is our love for other believers. When a Christian claims not to be able to stand other Christians, it shows that the person is still in death Read the rest of this entry

His Likeness

Rom.8:19 (KJV) “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”

God made you and I the light of the world. When He says you are the light of the world, He is saying that He has given you all it takes to be light. It may not look like it now, just trust Him and take your stand, Read the rest of this entry

Arise & Shine

Eph.5:8 (NRSV) “For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light” (emphasis added).

How does God expect us to live? God instructs us to live as children of light. Though we were once darkness, in Jesus we are light. This scripture suggests that it is possible Read the rest of this entry

Light!

Eph.5:1-2Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”

Please read Eph.5 in the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) of the Bible. Paul continues with “New Life Instructions” in Eph.5:3-20 (please read). Paul is telling us what to stay away from, as God’s own. Read the rest of this entry

Paul’s Case

Eph.4:17 “With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.”

Whereas in Eph.4:1 Paul said, “I beg you…”, in Eph.4:17 he says, “With the Lord’s authority I say this…”. We see a graduation from the picture of a father talking to his children, “I beg you…”. Read the rest of this entry

The Call

Eph.4:1Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.” (emphasis added).

Please read Eph.4:1-32 (NRSV). I am certain that just from reading this portion of scripture alone, you have already been blessed. However, we will highlight certain portions over the next few days Read the rest of this entry

I Pray

Rom.8:38 “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

Yesterday, we not only enumerated Paul’s five prayer points from Eph.3:16-19, we also prayed them over our lives by faith in Christ Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Extravagant

Eph.1:7-8 (NRSV) “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace  that he lavished on us…”(emphasis added).

God lavishes His grace upon us and that is really comforting. There were a lot of children in my house while we were growing up. At meal time, the food available was limited, Read the rest of this entry

Covenant!

Gen.13:2 (NRSV) “Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.

Do you know that the first man that God established His covenant with, that came outside of Adam, that God blessed and began to walk with was Abraham? Read the rest of this entry

In Christ!

Eph.1:3-4 “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.”

Imagine living in location A, but you have ten houses, a bank account there that you cannot access from your current location. How do you reconcile that? We answered the question, Read the rest of this entry
