Him Alone!

“Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him” Deut.13:4

As a Pastor I know I cannot please everyone. Recurrently people say to me, this person or that group of people is not happy with you. I just laugh and move on. If I have done something wrong, I do not have any issues apologizing and I will apologize. But I do not seek to please everyone because I simply cannot. You cannot Read the rest of this entry

Who Matters?

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honour God with your body” 1 Cor.6:19-20

You know who you are when you know whose you are. You do not belong to yourself, you are a child of God bought with the price the price of the Blood of Jesus. You are valuable to God. For a lot of us our lives will change completely if we wake up pronouncing and knowing, I am a child of God. I am deeply loved by God. I Read the rest of this entry

Surrender Control

“They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth” Phil.3:19.

What appetite do you need to surrender to Jesus? You and I must deal with this question in order to make our lives count. I personally am very sensitive to anything that can compete with God or put me out of sync with Him. Permit me to start my next illustration with a disclaimer. There is nothing wrong with cable Read the rest of this entry

Eyes Fixed

“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?” Luke 15:4

Many of us had set goals at the beginning of the year but guess what? This is the month July already and half of the year is gone. If this year must count, we must overcome or overpower distraction. Distraction is the one thing in your life that you must be able to deal with in order to make your life count. Distraction and not Read the rest of this entry

Distraction

“…Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing… There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her” Luke 10:39-40 & 42.

If you cannot make your life count then you have succeed in wasting your life but your life will not be wasted in Jesus Name. One subject that is noteworthy in making your life count is distraction. Distraction is a very powerful tool. Parents know the power of distraction. In fact, a lot of children are controlled with Read the rest of this entry

All In!

“So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He used the wood from the plow to build a fire to roast their flesh. He passed around the meat to the townspeople, and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant” 1 Kings 19:21

Interestingly when Elisha went to meet Elijah to ask for permission to go back and say goodbye his people guess what Elijah said? How is that my business? Is that a nice thing to say? Not at all, for someone that is going to let go of everything to follow this man of God. Elisha was definitely in for a roller coaster. He left his Read the rest of this entry

Sold Out?

“So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He used the wood from the plow to build a fire to roast their flesh. He passed around the meat to the townspeople, and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant” 1 Kings 19:21

The reason there are so many unhappy people is because a lot of people have made chasing happiness their preoccupation. Happiness is not an end but when you are fulfilling your purpose you will be happy. When you are fulfilling your purpose you will have pain but when you are fulfilling your purpose you will also have pleasure. Read the rest of this entry

Goal Setting II

“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty” Prov.21:5

#4. R is REALISTIC. Is it a realistic goal? For some people in their late twenties running into their thirties, their goal is to control how they grow horizontally. That is a valid goal but an unrealistic goal is someone of the same age bracket looking to control how he or she grows vertically. Read the rest of this entry

Goal Setting I

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty” Prov.21:5 [ESV]

Sit down with God, come up with goals, and write the goals down. Writing down a specific goal will increase your odds of achieving it by about ten times. In other words, a written goal is ten times more possible to come to pass than goals that are not written down. “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty” Prov.21:5 [ESV]. Project and Prophesy

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” Psalm 33:11

Yesterday we said, in goal setting the number one thing is acknowledging God [Ps.127:1]. We set goals knowing that God Himself sets goals. How do I know? It is in the Bible and I will show you. “He planned to bring all of history to its goal in Christ. Then Christ would be the head of everything in heaven and on earth” Eph.1:10 [GW]. God’s goal is to make Jesus Lord of everything. Sooner or later Read the rest of this entry
