Luke 13:19 “It’s like a single mustard seed that someone took and planted in his garden. That tiny seed grew and became a tree so large that the birds could fly in and make their nests in its branches. (Voice, emphasis added).
How do you establish the Kingdom as a teacher, a writer, an entrepreneur, a solopreneur, or a journalist? Jesus says the tiny mustard seed was planted in the man’s own garden. Luke 13:18-19 “Then he said, “How can I picture God’s kingdom for you? What kind of story can I use? It’s like an acorn that a man plants in his front yard. It grows into a huge oak tree with thick branches, and eagles build nests in it.” (MSG, emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry
John 11:25-26 “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”
We are more than halfway through our study of the Book of John. God’s Words by itself is life and it is so beautiful to see how Jesus responds to things. God’s Word is so refreshing, and I am confident that even as our minds are being renewed, our lives are being transformed. Amen! We are in an era where Read the rest of this entry
Gen.39:2&4 “The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served… This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned.”
It is just amazing how people go about marketing these days. Take the banking sector in Nigeria for example. These days some marketing reps approach proposed Read the rest of this entry
The world tends to focus on people’s reputation but character is who you are when nobody is watching. Many people are so bothered about what people think, say, and perceive about them. Read the rest of this entry
Prov. 13:16 (LB)”A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn’t, and even brags about it!” [with emphasis]
2 Tim.4:6 “As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” This was Paul speaking while he was still alive. Read the rest of this entry
Prov. 16:3 (LB) “Commit your work to the Lord, then it will succeed.”
It is so important that we understand that work is not a curse. Work is a blessing; it is a blessing from God and God wants us to thrive and win at work. So, over the next few days, we will be learning how to win at work. Read the rest of this entry
Pr.22:7 “Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.”
I beseech you with the Word of God – do not borrow! My wife and I have this principle in life; we agreed on it upfront and it is based on the Word of God. God’s Word says in Ps. 84:11 “For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” Read the rest of this entry
Prov.16:9 “We should make plans—counting on God to direct us” [TLB, with emphasis].
We should make plans but we should also count on God for direction. When you ask God to help you plan, what you are saying in other words is, “let Your blessing be on the plan” and that is a different thing all together. Always start with God in the picture. It is unwise to first paint the picture and then bring it to God. It is like filling the jar and then bringing it to Him. You have to leave it empty so He can fill it; so that He can direct your steps.
Prov.16:9 “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”
The second step to confidently face the future is to avoid the two mistakes highlighted in James 4:13-17 [please read]. The first mistake is planning without God. Someone says and I agree, “The best way to predict the future is to plan”. Yes, God expects us to plan. When you are creating the future, you are planning. But the easiest way to ruin that future you are creating is to plan without God.
“Turn your back on lustful thoughts and give your positive attention to goodness, integrity, love, and peace” 2 Tim.2:22 [Ph, emphasis added]
Yesterday we learnt to take charge of ourselves and take charge of our minds. Today I am urging you to take it a step further especially if you are a parent. You need to take charge of the media intake of your children. It is amazing how parents today allow their children to watch all sorts of things on television. It is almost as if some parents are not even interested in going through the pains of regulating the media that the children watch.
