Pointers To Un-repented Sin
‘Then the LORD God called to the man, Where are you? He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked…’ Gen.3:9-10
Today, we will be dealing with the components of the baggage of un-repented sin. These are the pointers to the fact that perhaps there is a baggage of un-repented sin you need to deal with. The first pointer to un-repented sin is regret [Read Genesis 3:1-13]. There is no point regretting. In dealing with regret, the first thing you need to know is that you Read the rest of this entry
Healthy Views
‘Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you’ Isa.43:4
God in His Words puts before us a multitude of people who had healthy views of themselves. Examples He wants us to follow in our own lives. People like Jabez; Esther; Daniel, Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego; and David. Jesus also lived out the perfect example of a healthy view of self which is why He urges us to ‘take His yoke and learn of Him’. The most important view is Read the rest of this entry
Unhealthy Views
‘…be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble’ 1Pet.5:5b
Scripture gives us countless examples of people who had unhealthy views of themselves; examples not to follow. Lucifer was beautiful, adorned with precious stones but iniquity was found in him. He wanted to be like God [Ezek.28:13-15, &17]. Sometimes, thinking that you are too much can be very risky. Ten out of the twelve spies had an unhealthy view of self ‘we are Read the rest of this entry
Your View vs God’s View
‘…Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us’ Rom.12:3b
‘…Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us’ Rom.12:3b. What are you saying about yourself? What is your honest evaluation about yourself? Some of us have the baggage of unrealistic self-view. We have unhealthy opinions about ourselves. Some people think they are better Read the rest of this entry
Men’s View vs God’s View IV
‘There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful’ 1Chro.4:9.
There are times when, even though you are going about doing God’s work people will rise up and call you names. When you constantly put before you the God you are serving, what people say will become insignificant. Even Jesus who came for the good of mankind was accused of healing through Read the rest of this entry
Men’s View vs God’s View III
‘Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it’ Ps.139:14
David knew God’s opinion about him and because he believed it so strongly, he was able to rise above the box of the opinion of men. When God sent Samuel to anoint a king in the house of Jesse, because of the opinion his family had of him, David was not presented at all. However, God’s view is far reaching and it Read the rest of this entry
Worth The Pain
‘In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation’ 1 Pet.5:10
There is no doubt that restituting may prove to be a very difficult process. In certain cases, some people will be required to face people they have lied to or cheated in the past. You may actually have to dodge a bullet or two. However, it is God’s purposes that must be priority at all times. If this means anything to you, then you will want to set things right. Restitution does not save you but if you are saved you will be Read the rest of this entry
Pay Back
‘If someone steals an ox or sheep and then kills or sells it, the thief must pay back five oxen for each ox stolen, and four sheep for each sheep stolen’ Ex.22:1
Restitution is an unpopular topic usually avoided by many. Restitution is an aspect of restoration that a lot of people want to overlook. The dictionary defines restitution as ‘the act of restoring to the rightful owner something that has been taken away, lost or surrendered’. I learnt about restitution from the Lord Himself, years ago. I had just gotten saved and it was as though the message ‘seed and harvest’ was Read the rest of this entry
The Culture Box II
‘So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding’ Col.1:9
Knowing the will of the Father and doing the will of the Father sets you above cultural limitations. A corrupt culture leads to corrupt thinking. And when your thinking is corrupt you cannot discern God’s will. God wants you to discover His will and operate in it. Discovering God’s will would set you free from a whole lot of things. And if you cannot imbibe His culture through Read the rest of this entry
The Culture Box I
‘Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect’ Rom.12:2
The second thing that attempts to box God in our lives is our culture. Culture is the summation of socially transmitted behavioral patterns and beliefs. Like tradition, culture is not necessarily bad but when the culture of the world does not align with the culture of the Kingdom then we experience a culture clash. We are in the world, so there are parts of the culture of the world that Read the rest of this entry
