Three Keys

Romans 12:2 “Don’t be so conformed to culture that you fit into it without thinking. Instead, let God transform you by changing the way you think.” (MSG/NLT)

Today, we will delve deeper into the three keys to increase our presence. The first key is, Evaluate The Why Of Your Distractions. Why are you distracted and why do you struggle to be present? What is your why? Psalm 46:10aBe still, and know that I am God!” Are you struggling to be still? Why? Read the rest of this entry

Distracted?

Luke 10:40-42 “…Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing… But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

What is distracting you from the throne today? Is it your bank account? Sometimes, it is the busyness of work; you have to get up and go, no time for God. You cannot even carve out time to shut yourself in with God. What is on the stove today? Read the rest of this entry

Only One

Luke 10:41-42 “But the Lord said to her, “Martha, dear friend, you are so upset over all these details! There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it—and I won’t take it away from her!” (LB, emphasis added).

When it comes to our children it is important to realize that we need to ask them questions and engage with them. Guess what? There will come a time when our influence in their lives diminishes. Research shows that a parent typically has nine hundred and thirty-six weeks from birth to influence a child. Read the rest of this entry

Create Connections

Luke 9:18&20 “One day Jesus left the crowds to pray alone. Only his disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do people say I am?” …Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah sent from God!”

We need to realize that many things that have become urgent or that technology tries to make urgent to us, are not actually urgent. Those things can wait. For instance, I have a half hourglass that I use for my focus times. When I block out time to focus on scripture or to pray, until the half hourglass is done, I do not stop. Just Listen!

Romans 12:2 “Don’t be so conformed to culture that you fit into it without thinking. Instead, let God transform you by changing the way you think.” (MSG/NLT)

Yesterday, we established that listening is a language of love, listening validates people, and listening communicates value. You must learn to listen, just listen. For a lot of us, our parents sent us away when we initiated conversations with them. Read the rest of this entry

Pay Attention

James 1:19 “Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]” (AMP)

In my walk with God, I have gone through seasons of dryness, seasons where it seems like I am searching for Jesus like Mary and Joseph (Luke 2:41-50). One of my fastest ways of reconnecting is calling up a friend that I know loves Jesus and talking about scriptures. Read the rest of this entry

Cultivate

Psalm 27:8 “When You said, “Seek My face [in prayer, require My presence as your greatest need],” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I will seek [on the authority of Your word].” (AMP)

We will kick off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday which is, the places you are present determine the presence you carry. If you want to carry light, the presence of God which you will carry in the Name of Jesus, you need to spend time with light. Read the rest of this entry

At Home

John 1:14 “So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”

The Merriam-Webster dictionary and the Collins dictionary define technoference as the interruptions in or any negative effect imposed on interpersonal communication and relationships caused by the attention paid to or the intrusive use of personal technological devices. Read the rest of this entry

Influence?

Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”

Presence influences happiness. How come nobody wants to be ignored? Presence with someone who cares about you makes the experience delightful. We have heard that women love attention. The truth is that men also love attention, in fact, every human being loves attention. Read the rest of this entry

Be Present

Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.”

We start today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday which is, as light God expects you to be present in your family, office, business, home, fellowship. And when you are present, God expects that His light will be present. God wants you to bring your light to bear in your relationships. Read the rest of this entry
