Get Involved

Mark 15:42-43 “It was toward evening when Joseph of Arimathea arrived. He was a respected member of the Council, who was waiting for the coming of the Kingdom of God… so Joseph went boldly into the presence of Pilate and asked him for the body of Jesus. (GNT)

We will kick off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday. We said that the Kingdom influence of the Church has been limited through statements like,

Get Equipped

Deuteronomy 7:1 “When the Lord brings you into the Promised Land… he will destroy the following seven nations, all greater and mightier than you are: the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, the Jebusites.” (LB, emphasis added)

We are to enter into these mountains not to be what they are but to change what they represent. But our people cannot do it if they are not equipped to do it. Read the rest of this entry

Kingdom Influence

Revelation 5:12 “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” (KJV, emphasis added)

Bronwyn O’Brien, the author of Seven Mountains of Influence says, “After researching the original Greek meanings of these words, it became evident to me that power speaks of Government, riches speak of Economy; wisdom speaks of Education; strength speaks of Family; honor speaks of Religion

In Ministry

Acts 9:39 “So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them.”

Yesterday, I shared with you how I took my stand on a direction in my organization. It was tough to insist on a different direction from what my boss had in mind on a matter. But I took my stand and it was nothing spooky. Read the rest of this entry

Take Your Stand

Isaiah 60:1&3 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you… Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.’ (NIV)

We erroneously think that it is those who are in ‘full-time’ ministry that are in the centre of God’s will. We look at people in ‘full-time’ ministry thinking to ourselves that one day when we make enough money and do not need a salary from the church, then we can finally be in the centre of God’s will for our lives. The Kingdom

Matthew 9:35 “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” (NKJV)

The gospel that Jesus came to preach is the gospel of the Kingdom. However, the Church has focused mostly on the gospel of salvation and is stuck on the gospel of salvation. But Jesus preached the gospel of the Kingdom. Read the rest of this entry

More

Genesis 13:18 “So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at the city of Hebron. There he built an altar to the LORD.” (NCV)

If there is something that we must learn, something that should have stood out to us about Caleb from our lessons so far, it is the fact that no matter what we are believing God for, we need to have a long-term view of waiting on God to fulfil His promises. We need to play the long game when it comes to the promises of God. Read the rest of this entry

Secure It

Joshua 14:13 “So Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land.” (emphasis added).

Joshua 15:16-17 Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the one who attacks and captures Kiriath-Sepher.”  Othniel… was the one who conquered it, so Acsah became Othniel’s wife.” One final thing fathers, you have a duty not to let your ‘Acsah’ walk into the hands of a ‘spineless’ man in the name of love. Like Father

Joshua 15:19 “She said, “Give me another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev; now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.”

Back in the day, particularly in the Nigerian culture, when people want to get married, what happens is the families go and check the other family’s history. Those things were and are crucial. Sadly, we threw that part of the culture out of the window because we are embracing the West. Read the rest of this entry

Daddy’s Girl

Joshua 15:16 “Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the one who attacks and captures Kiriath-Sepher.”

Acsah was daddy’s girl, and ‘daddy’s girls’ of strong men usually have challenges settling down because they know what to do as they have seen their father do things. Read the rest of this entry
