Special Ability II

Acts 2:11 “…ALL OF US hear them speaking in our own languages about the great things that God has done!” [TEV, with emphasis]

Today’s Scripture reference has two major implications for us. The first is that God has put you in your church family to reach someone no one else can reach. Read the rest of this entry

Special Ability I

Acts 1:8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The number one way to get God’s power is prayer. Acts 1:14 “They all met together and were constantly united in prayer” [with emphasis]. Read the rest of this entry

Acts 1:14 “They all met together and were constantly united in prayer” [with emphasis]

The Church is so significant. In fact, the church is one institution that will last forever. No government will last forever, no institution will last forever, but the church will last forever. Read the rest of this entry

Now or Later?

Phil 2: 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father [with emphasis]”.

You can choose to kneel now or you can choose to kneel later but everybody will kneel to Jesus eventually. Yes, everybody! When Jesus comes back, every eye will see, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Read the rest of this entry

Leave It There

Luke 22:41 “He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine” [with emphasis]

Pursue, Repent & Submit!

Ps.63:1O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Are you sincerely seeking God or you just want a god that you can control? God is not a talisman; He will not do your bidding. When God is not in control of you, what you have is an idol. Read the rest of this entry

Contrite Heart

2 Cor. 7:10For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death” [NKJV].

David says in Ps.51:17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.” The reason why people are able to go back to their sin is because they do not experience that contriteness of heart. Read the rest of this entry

Confess & Forsake!

Prov.28:13 “People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy” [with emphasis].

Peter was going to go home a sad man, without food for his family that day because he had tried all night but did not catch any fish. Jesus did not have to be kind to Peter and Jesus did not have to promote Peter. Read the rest of this entry

Turn From Sin!

Luke 5:8 “When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you” [with emphasis]

As with a lot of things in God, kneeling down is deeply significant and symbolic. In God’s Presence, the first reason why we kneel is in pursuit and the second reason is we kneel in Repentance. The yoke and weight of sin can be really heavy. But when we kneel in repentance, it’s sorted out.

His Pleasure

Psa. 99:5 “Exalt the Lord our God! Bow low before his feet, for he is holy!”

Your focus in the place of worship is very important because it informs what you will do. Your focus will also inform what you allow and what you will disallow. For instance, if your focus is on people and what they will say, if they will laugh at you or call you a fanatic, you will struggle with kneeling down in God’s Presence. Read the rest of this entry
