Hundred Percent

‘…Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God, the Almighty -the One who always was, who is, and who is still to come’ Rev.4:8.

When God wanted to announce Himself to Moses He said, ‘the Lord, the Lord gracious, compassionate, full of mercy, slow to anger’. This is how God described Himself to Moses. But when the angels look at God in His fullness all they can say is Holy, Holy, Holy. And it is almost as if they do not have any other word in their vocabulary. ‘Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty, which was and is and is to come’. They could have said powerful, or faithful, or righteous, in fact they could have said many other things but all they can say is Holy, Holy, Holy. The truth is that God is not holy because He keeps the Law. God is Holy because that is who He is. His nature and His essence is holy. What He is made up of is holiness. So holiness really cannot be achieved by keeping the law but when you are holy you will keep the law. And keeping the law will be effortless.

Purity simply means to be consistent in character. The dictionary puts it this way -not mixed or adulterated with any other substance or material. So if you have a shirt that is 100% silk then the shirt is pure silk. If you have a dress that is 100% cotton then the dress is pure cotton. If you have gold that is 100% gold then it is pure gold. But when you begin to mix that gold with iron it does not maintain its purity. So the more of God we allow in us the purer we become. Christ in you is the hope of glory. Once you accept Jesus He comes to take residence in you and the more of Him you allow in you the purer you become. So purity does not start with new behavior, it starts with new creation. It is very awkward for me sometimes when I meet people and we are having a normal conversation and all of a sudden they discover I am a Pastor and they begin to change what they are saying or how they are behaving. Some people think that if they can stop doing one thing or the other then they become holy. The truth is that it is not about what you start or stop. Holiness and purity are not about doing another new thing, it is about becoming the new thing [2 Cor.5:17].

Prayer [song]: Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up Lord. Come and quench this thirst in my soul. Bread of heaven, fill me till I want no more. Fill my cup I lift it up and make me whole, in Jesus Name.
