Remember

‘Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands’ Deut.8:2

If you see a judgmental person, you have seen somebody that has forgotten. If you come across a Christian that is irritable with someone that is far from God, someone that is not dressing well, or behaving properly. When you come across a Christian that this puts off totally and now goes around with a ‘holier than thou’ attitude, you have met a Christian who has forgotten. In fact, you have met an ungrateful person who does not remember what God has brought him/her through. If you remember where Jesus has taken you from and you see someone that is far from God, it should lead you to do two things – thanksgiving and intercession.

When we look at the nation Nigeria, we’ve to be totally grateful to God for Nigeria. And as a people we have chosen to build a culture of gratitude where the things that God has done for us are constantly before our face. A monthly tradition of collectively saying thank you to God is so important. The idea really is that if we really understood what God has done and He is doing, we will be consistently filled with gratitude. Secondly, it will pave a way for what God is about to do in and with our lives. So even when we experience setbacks, because we understand the big picture, we are still able to thank God. So a married couple who is still trusting God for the fruit of the womb, even though it appears that everywhere they look they see pregnant women, they are still able to give thanks to God. Your gratitude does not mean you are in denial but because we have understanding of what God is doing. God is a God of the big picture and gratitude is so so so key. If you are an ungrateful person, you really cannot walk successfully with God because God always does things for the overall benefit of the big picture. Sometimes this translates to God suspending your current happiness for joy everlasting. God is not going to give you anything that you will not see His faithfulness in. So even amidst the wait for the promise, remember that God has been good to you and trust Him.

Prayer [song]: I have seen the Lord’s goodness. His mercies and compassions, I have seen the Lord’s goodness hallelujah praise the Lord. O Lord, You have been so good, You are so good to me. O Lord, You are excellent in my life everyday… Amen!
