Obey Divine Direction
‘So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jar to her, and she filled one after another’ 2 kings 4:5.
In time past, I was driving in London and had to attend church. I did not know the routes so I had to drive using a GPS navigator. But that fateful, morning there was road construction going on and the GPS had not updated itself. It did not know that there was a roadblock so it took me right to it. And I began to wonder how I will get to church; of course the GPS was recalculating, and I did not want to get to church late. I wasn’t preaching, in fact they don’t even know me in the church. They don’t need to know me in the church for me to come early to church. When you come to church, who are you coming to meet? It is God! So why would you come late to church? So I turned to God for help and the Holy Spirit pointed to a car in front of me and asked me to follow the car. And just then, the car pulled out and was going. I had to decide, am I going to be foolish and follow a car I don’t know? What if he calls the police? Well I pulled out, followed the car, and switched off the GPS. The car navigated through all sorts of nooks and crannies that I did not know and probably the GPS didn’t know. Then the car veered off, I looked up and there was the church I was going to, right in front of me. And I arrived on time. I know some of you would not believe this but it is ok. I will share it anyway for those who would believe. Now for you, you may just want to bother God with the big things. I’m saying if you wait for the big things, you will be under too much pressure. That is not when to hear God. Hear God in the seemingly little things. You want to eat and God tells you not to eat yet. What do you do? That will determine if God will give you more complicated instructions in time to come.
Principle #4 is the principle of obedience. The principle of obedience simply states you cannot go beyond your level of obedience. You will not hear God more than your last obedience. If you get divine direction and you don’t obey, what is the value of the direction? God has said ‘do A’. Do ‘A’ and watch what He will do. After all, He is God.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I ask for the wisdom to seek Your counsel and to obey it, in Jesus Name.
