You Have Oil!

‘What can I do to help you? Elisha asked. ‘Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied’ 2 Kings 4:2

‘So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jar to her, and she filled one after another’ 2 kings 4:5. Many of us are looking up to God for a miracle. But you see, God will not do by miracle what we can do in obedience. God has told you do ‘A’, just do it! It does not matter if ‘A’ does not make sense, or if it will cost you a lot, or if you have never done it before. God says, ‘I want to do what has never happened in your lifetime before. So I am going to ask you to do what you have never done before’. What will you do, will you obey or not?

Principle #5 is the oil principle. The oil principle simply states that everyone has oil. No one is born empty. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all…’. Firstly, it tells us that the solution is already in your custody. The solution is already within you. Secondly, this solution is easily disdained, it is easily disregarded, and it is easily swept aside. We are looking for something grand and God is saying ‘No! You have oil’. If I have oil then where is the oil? I am going to attempt to show you where the oil is. But it is noteworthy that the prophet did not have money in the house but the prophet had oil. It would be a disaster if the prophet had money and didn’t have oil. Where is my oil? When we talk about abundance, very quickly people’s mind goes to money. Like someone said, don’t seek to be a person with money; seek to be a person of value and money will come after you. Money is not the issue. If you purse money, you are going to love money. And if you love money, you are going to hurt your relationship with God. Money is a spirit and not just a note or a coin. And God says ‘you cannot serve God and money’. The number one contender with God for our hearts is not women for those of us that are male. But the number one contender is money. People think that when they have money, they can get all the things that they need, including women. But they are wrong. When you become a person of value, like Deuteronomy states, money will pursue you and over take you.

Prayer: Father, help me to heed Your instructions and to obey them completely. Father, please make me a person of immense value, in Jesus Name.
