The Solution

‘Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me’ John 14:6.

‘Can’t the devil just swallow his pride and ask God for forgiveness so that all this trouble will end?’ I stumbled on this thought expressed by a number of people on social media in many different words. I would say it makes a lot of sense, don’t you agree? But the truth is, logic does not always explain God. In fact, many times logic is far from God and I will explain why. Do you know why the enemy, even if he decides to be humble, cannot ask God for forgiveness? It is because God always initiates reconciliation when He wants to. Do you know why satan hates you and I so much? It is because when satan sinned, God did not initiate reconciliation. But when man sinned, God came and died for man and initiated reconciliation. Jesus is the solution; He is the answer that God gave for man. Nobody can come to God except He draws them close. So satan cannot just get up and say he wants to repent; it doesn’t work like that. God always initiates reconciliation.

God had this big idea and sent Jesus to live and die. And Jesus came and initiated the church. The church was a grass root movement started by Jesus, a Jewish carpenter. And when the church started, the church was known as the Way. The people that are known as Christians today were previously called the people of the Way. Jesus was an enigma, if you will, no one could understand Him. Even His family thought He was crazy. The religious leaders said He was possessed and after three years, Jesus was handed over to Pilate. Pilate was the governor at the time. Pilate said to Jesus, ‘they said you are the King of the Jews’. And Jesus replied, ‘you have said it’. If Jesus were in present day Nigeria, His response would be ‘you are on point’. The elders railed accusations at Jesus but He didn’t say a word. It was because Jesus had said all He needed to say to the Pharisees. He had nothing else to say to them. Pilate said to Him, ‘don’t you get it, these people are accusing you and you’re not saying a word? Don’t you know I can set you free or I can decide to crucify you?’ And Jesus said, ‘you cannot kill me if it is not given to you from heaven’. I am saying to you today, your life is not in anybody’s hands.
