‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven’ Matt.5:16 [KJV]
You get to choose whether your light will shine or not. It is your decision. Jesus says let your light shine; Jesus did not say let your Pastor’s light shine. Did Jesus say your job is to go about ensuring that other people’s light shines? Did Jesus say let your life group leader’s light shine or let your neighbors light shine? No He said, you let your light shine. For instance, a woman quarrels with everyone in her community and even welcomes new neighbors with fights. Then this same woman goes round telling people she is about to start a house fellowship. Will anyone attend? God says to do your best to be at peace with all men, so that you will not become a barrier between people and Jesus; so that you do not cause a disconnection instead of a connection. I have repeatedly given the example of my friend who could not understand what was the fuss about being born again. His barrier apparently was his girlfriend who was supposed to be saved but was compromising. Yesterday, I shared with you how God helped me to stand for Him at my former office and how God rewarded the company with far more revenue. Today I will share the effects of that singular action with you. After I had resigned and left the company, I found out that there are certain things that they do not do because my CEO would say ‘Femi would not do it’. For instance, if numbers were to be doctored on a proposal he would refuse simply because ‘Femi would not do it’. He was speaking for me. Some time ago, someone told me that he is now born again. In fact, he is so serious with God that he is running the entire unit by faith. He doesn’t give bribes or smoke anymore. He is focused on his family and the business is doing well.
You are responsible for your light shining or not shining. Your light will shine if you will do what you can do. You do not need to be smarter than you are now. That’s the problem with a lot of people, they feel they need to be either smarter, richer, perhaps prettier, or more eloquent. You don’t need to be smarter, richer, slimmer, or fatter; just come as you are and Jesus will use you.
Prayer: Father, let Your Kingdom be established everywhere I go, in Jesus Name.
