Heart Check III
‘And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the Lord was with him. Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him’ 1Sam.18:14-15 [KJV].
How did Saul lose his kingdom? There was battle, there needed to be sacrifice so that God would intervene. Samuel was supposed to come and perform the sacrifice. Saul waited and waited and Samuel was late. How can a man of God come late? But Samuel came late. And the Philistines were approaching, gathering, and closing in. The people were agitated and Saul must have said, “I know how to do this thing. I have seen Prophet Samuel do it several times. Is it not just to cut this part and that part and say a few mambo-jumbos and its done?” So Saul cut here and cut there and offered the sacrifice. And as soon as he offered the sacrifice, Samuel came in and said ‘what have you done?’ Hear what Saul said, ‘the Philistines were gathering and the people were complaining. So I felt compelled by the people and by the circumstance to disobey God. So I disobeyed God’. And Samuel said, ‘you have do a foolish thing’. And Samuel gave him the word that terminated his appointment. God terminated Saul’s appointment. May God not terminate your appointment. I am praying that that which you will do that will make God change His mind about the greatness He has for you and the great places He is taking you, you will not do it in Jesus Name. David had an obedient heart. God could trust David to obey Him. Even though David was a shepherd boy, God could trust him. Can God trust you to obey Him?
A Wise heart. David’s heart was a wise heart [1Sam.18:14-15 KJV]. Saul was afraid of David because he behaved wisely. People are trying to set you up and you are still playing along? My grandmother would say, “they want to roast you and you are using kerosene to rub your body”. “They are calling you a thief, they’ve caught you with a lamb and you say you are just playing with it”. If they are trying to label you a thief shouldn’t you leave the lamb alone? David behaved wisely and Saul would try to make him offend but David would maneuver. I am praying in the name of Jesus that the God of heaven will give you a wise heart. The heart is so crucial. You are in a situation where prying eyes are on you. You will be shocked at the mistake they want you to make, like Daniel. But God will give you a wise heart and they will be afraid of you instead.
Prayer: Father, I ask of You who freely gives, fill my heart with wisdom, make my heart wise, in Jesus Name.
