Instructive Armor I

‘Then Saul gave David his own armor –  a bronze helmet and a coat of mail. David put it on, strapped on the sword over it, took one step or two to see what it was like, for he had never worn such things before. “I can’t go in these,” he protested…’ 1 Sam.17:36-37

When you look at Goliath’s armor [1Sam.17:5-7], Saul’s armor [1Sa.17:38-39], and David’s armor [1Sam.17:40], it is very instructive to us. The value to us is you cannot go against the enemy and defeat the enemy with a weapon that the enemy knows how to use better than you. You cannot use the same tools that the enemy has mastered to defeat the enemy. You simply cannot! I was listening to Dr. Okey Onuzo’s teaching in God’s Favourite House during the Easter of 2013 and he was saying that as Christian, you have the Spirit of God in you. Therefore, you cannot do what the world is doing because you cannot go the length they are willing to go. The world will not stop at bribing meanwhile if you bribe you feel convicted of the Holy Spirit already. The world is willing to kill. Are you willing to kill? The world is willing to go to a shrine for power to get a political appointment. Are you willing to do that? I hope not. David said, “I have not tried this but this is what I know, in the name of the Lord God of Hosts this goliath is coming down”. Stay where your strength is. I cannot emphasize this enough. Stay where your strength is. If you are a Christian seeking to get married, you can’t go the way of the world. The way of the world is exposure; expose your body so that the man can see what he is missing right? The problem with that strategy is that the world is not only willing to expose the cleavage. Meanwhile you are wrestling with whether exposing a little portion of your cleavage is a sin or not. The world can show the whole thing, can you show your whole thing? I sincerely hope not. I was talking to a single lady that was lamenting about the kind of man she wanted to marry versus the kind she was meeting. So I asked her if she would like to marry someone like me and she said, “Exactly! Tall, anointed, loves God but it is as if I don’t attract people like you”. And I said to her, “You can’t attract someone like me by exposing your body”. And she hurriedly tried to cover up. The truth is that things like that repel people like me. So you attract a rascal and when he begins to manifest the first thing you say is; but I prayed. You prayed but you exposed your body too.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace as a spiritual person not to deploy physical weapons for the battles before me, in Jesus Name.
