Instructive Armor II

‘He picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them into his shepherd’s bag. Then, armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, he started across the valley to fight the philistine’ 1Sam.17:40

You cannot use Saul’s armor. You need to use the surest thing in the world. The Bible says that (‘the meek and the quiet spirit’), the beauty that is from the inside is what a godly woman is. You do not become great by being a copycat – copying the Saul’s. You become great by deploying your own uniqueness. If you look at that battle, David remained simple and agile. If you are running a business or you are a professional, whatever you are doing, remain simple and agile. Goliath’s armor alone, everything goliath was wearing and carrying, weighed about 70kgs. How fast can he move? David would have run around him like three times before he is able to turn once. David remained nimble, he picked stones, flung one that hit Goliath’s head and goliath fell flat on his face. David did something very instructive, he went and cut off the Goliath’s head. This is so important. Everyone that grew up in Nigeria knows that when you kill a snake, you don’t turn your back until you have cut off its head. Why because snakes have a way of pretending that they are dead when they are not. You have the victory, see it through.

Further more, in the battle between David and Goliath, there was a war of words. ‘Goliath walked out toward David… sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy. “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “that you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods’. 1Sam.17:41-43. That simply means Goliath was invoking the supernatural. And the Bible says that David answered him back. You must answer back. Every thought that has come to your mind to defame you, to defile you, to tell you that you are not going to succeed, to tell you that you are going to fail. You need to answer it back! Many of us want to wish it away. That is the wrong response. You must answer back. David answered back and said, “today I’m going to cut off your head’ even though David didn’t have a sword. David did not only answer back, he countered Goliath’s words. If Goliath said, “I will defeat you”, David said, “No, I will defeat you and cut off your head”. Use the power of words to call forth your victory ahead of the battle.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I conquer every Goliath that stands before me today. I cut off their heads and feed their flesh to the birds of the air, in Jesus Name.
