About Altars

“A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out” Lev.6:13.

Many times when God wants to change someone’s life, it starts like an ordinary day. You may have woken up thinking today is an ordinary day. But I have news for you; today your life is going to be totally changed for good in the Mighty Name of Jesus. I am really excited about this season because there are monumental things that are shifting and have shifted forever in our lives. We have been dealing with altars, building and establishing altars. Over the next few days, we are going to learn the art of sustaining an altar.

“A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out” Lev.6:13. As far as God’s altar is concerned, the altar must be sustained. So there has to be an altar in the first place and the altar must be sustained. Let’s go back very quickly to building altars. “That night the Lord said to Gideon, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one that is seven years old. Pull down your father’s altar to Baal, and cut down the Asherah pole standing beside it. Then build an altar to the Lord your God here on this hilltop sanctuary, laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the altar, using as fuel the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down.” Judg.6:25-26. Isn’t it amazing that God knows even the age of the bull? So there is no confusion. For some, you need to go and pull down your father’s altar. As you pull down an altar that is not of God, you have to build an altar for the Lord. Isn’t God amazing? God was telling Gideon to pull down the altar that is not for the Lord and raise an altar that is for the Lord. We said there are two things in building altars, faith and sacrifice. When God tells you to build an altar, it takes faith to obey God and put the stones together. It took faith for Noah to begin to build the ark because everybody thought Noah was crazy. The truth is that as we serve and obey God, we realize that it is impossible to please Him without faith. So if you want to totally reason God out, you are going to have a problem. With God, you will discover that there are things and areas where your reasoning will fail. I believe science is God’s gift to man. Science keeps discovering new things everyday. But as brilliant as science is, it still cannot explain or comprehend the things of God. “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him” Heb.11:6.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please grow my faith so that my sacrifices will be acceptable before God, in Jesus Name.
