Edifying Word
“The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right” 2 Tim.3:16 [TLB]
It is my prayer that God will speak to you today and that His Word will change your life, in Jesus Name. Please read and study Colossians 3:18 – 4:18. God’s Word for us is that adding anything to Jesus nullifies the power of the cross. In other words, Jesus plus something equals nothing. In our culture, particularly in this part of the world, we have people saying Jesus is not enough so you have to add “xyz” to Jesus. If you fall for that bait you would have negated the power of God in your life because Jesus plus something will always give you nothing. Paul is saying to us invariably that Jesus plus nothing equals everything. When you have Jesus alone you have everything.
“…you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault” Col.1:22. Meaning when we come before God through Christ, we are blameless, without a single fault. People around you may still look at you as a liar or a fornicator but when God looks at you He does not see a single fault. And this truth is so comforting and amazing. “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him” Col.2:6. It is one thing to accept Jesus as Lord but it is another thing to continue to follow Him on a daily basis. In fact, the problem we have in the church generally today is that we have people that have accepted Jesus but are not following Jesus. So there is a mismatch and such people’s lives typically don’t align with God’s Word. I pray that your lives will align in Jesus Name. “Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense… For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body” Col.2:8-9. You are complete in Him and in Christ there is no distinction based on race, color, or human category, in Christ there is no outcast. However, you must understand that your new life in Christ requires ongoing development. This development will require you to put some things to death, put off and put on some things. What you wear is what is seen, people cannot see your heart but they can see your attitude. It is your attitude, what you wear, that gives glory to God. A younger lady was complaining to an older woman about how badly her husband snores at night. The older woman who had lost her husband about twenty years ago replied that she would give anything to hear her husband snore again. If you want to remain married you must make allowance for your spouse’s faults. If you do not you are going to be unhappy or eventually be unmarried.
Prayer: Father, let these truths that You are teaching me in this season change my life completely as I apply them in my life, in Jesus Name.
